Op zondagochtend 5 mei 2024 werd een aantal liturgische voorwerpen afkomstig van de Grote Kerk te Almelo de protestantse (voormalig gereformeerde) Pniëlkerk binnengedragen.

Zo werd de kanselbijbel uit de Grote Kerk op de liturgische tafel in de Pniëlkerk gelegd. Op de vijfde mei begon de periode waarin de wijkgemeente van de Grote Kerk en die van de Pniëlkerk samen zullen optrekken tot aan de samenvoeging van alle Almelose wijkgemeenten tot de ene Protestantse Gemeente Almelo met als toekomstige enige plaats van samenkomst de Grote Kerk.

Deze kerk wordt momenteel verbouwd, zodat daar dus enige tijd geen diensten gehouden kunnen worden. Ook de Pniëlkerk zal, als de verbouwing van de Grote Kerk gereed is, gaan sluiten; de laatste dienst wordt daar vermoedelijk eind december 2024 gehouden.

On Sunday morning, May 5, 2024, a number of liturgical items from the Great Church in Almelo were brought into the Protestant (formerly ‘gereformeerde’) Pniël Church.

For instance, the pulpit Bible from the Great Church was placed on the liturgical table in the Pniël Church. On the fifth of May, the period began during which the congregations of the Great Church and the Pniël Church will come together until the merger of all Almelo district congregations into the Protestant Congregation Almelo, with the future sole meeting place being the Great Church.

This church is currently undergoing renovation, so services cannot be held there for some time. The Pniël Church will also close once the renovation of the Great Church is completed; the last service there is expected to be held at the end of December 2024.
