De monumentale gereformeerde kerk in Andijk moet opnieuw grondig onderzocht en aangepakt worden, terwijl het gebouw nog maar enkele jaren geleden ook al werd gerestaureerd (ongeveer tien jaar geleden werd ook de pastorie gerenoveerd). Aanleiding zijn zichtbare scheuren en andere gebreken aan vooral de toren en het metselwerk.
Adviesbureau Ursem heeft een uitgebreide “gebrekentekening” gemaakt waarop allerlei beschadigingen staan aangegeven.
Leden van het College van Kerkrentmeesters liepen met bouwdeskundigen rond het gebouw om de schade letterlijk aan te wijzen: „Je kunt het zien, hè? De scheuren.” De problemen zijn niet alleen cosmetisch; er bestaan zorgen over vocht, lekkages en de constructieve toestand van delen van de kerk. Eerdere restauraties hebben blijkbaar niet alle problemen opgelost.
Dat binnen de kerkelijke gemeente teleurstelling heerst is vanzelfsprekend. Er werd al veel geld en energie in het onderhoud van het monumentale kerkgebouw gestoken, maar nu blijken opnieuw werkzaamheden nodig te zijn. De Gereformeerde Kerk wil het karakteristieke gebouw behouden, omdat het een herkenbaar punt in Andijk is en een belangrijke functie heeft voor de gemeenschap. Tegelijkertijd hangt er een financieel vraagstuk boven de markt: de herstelkosten kunnen opnieuw hoog oplopen!
Specialisten gaan onderzoeken waardoor de scheuren precies ontstaan zijn. The monumental ‘gereformeerde’ church in Andijk must once again undergo extensive investigation and repairs, even though the building was already restored only a few years ago (and the parsonage was also renovated about ten years ago). The reason is the appearance of visible cracks and other defects, especially in the tower and the brickwork.
Engineering consultancy Ursem has produced a detailed “defects drawing” showing various kinds of damage.
Members of the Board of Churchwardens walked around the building with construction experts to point out the damage firsthand: “You can see it, right? The cracks.” The problems are not merely cosmetic; there are concerns about moisture, leaks, and the structural condition of parts of the church. Previous restoration work apparently did not solve all the issues.
It is understandable that there is disappointment within the church community. A great deal of money and energy has already been invested in maintaining the monumental church building, yet new repair work is now proving necessary again. The ‘Gereformeerde’ Church wants to preserve the characteristic building because it is a recognizable landmark in Andijk and serves an important role for the community. At the same time, there is a looming financial issue: the repair costs could once again become very high.
Specialists will investigate the exact cause of the cracks. They will examine possible movement in the church’s structure, the condition of the mortar joints, and potential moisture problems. While the investigation is ongoing, the church is once again surrounded by scaffolding so that the repair work can be carried out safely.
