Kerk werd een jaar geleden verkocht aan de Kopten.

Op 4 februari 2023 meldden we dat de kerkenraad van de Protestantse Gemeente Beverwijk-Wijk aan Zee besloten had alle drie kerkgebouwen te verkopen, waaronder de voormalig gereformeerde Vredevorstkerk aan de Laan der Nederlanden.

Kort daarop berichtten we dat de Vredevorstkerk zou worden verkocht aan de Koptische Kerk (de verkoopakte werd op 1 mei 2024 getekend), maar dat de protestantse kerkdiensten in de Vredevorstkerk vooralsnog gewoon doorgingen.

Nadat op 6 juli een gedenkboek was gepubliceerd over ‘Zestig jaar leven in de Vredevorstkerk’, werd op 8 juli een kerkdienst gehouden waarin het zestigjarig bestaan van de kerk centraal stond.

Nu komt een eind aan het gebruik van de Vredevorstkerk door de Protestantse Gemeente. Op zondagochtend 25 mei om half tien wordt er namelijk de laatste dienst gehouden. Na afloop van de dienst zullen de brandende Paaskaars, de Bijbel en het Avondmaalsstel uit de kerk gedragen worden om ze een week later, op 1 juni, in de Grote Kerk binnen te dragen. Want daar worden de kerkdiensten in het vervolg gehouden. Ds. Tjitske de Vries uit Overveen zal in die dienst voorgaan.

We komen uiteraard uitvoerig terug op de laagste dienst in de Vredevorstkerk.

Vredevorst Church in Beverwijk Is Now Really Closing.

Church was sold to the Copts a year ago.

On February 4, 2023, we reported that the church council of the Protestant Congregation of Beverwijk-Wijk aan Zee had decided to sell all three church buildings, including the former ‘gerformeerde’ Vredevorst Church on the Laan der Nederlanden.

Shortly afterward, we reported that the Vredevorst Church would be sold to the Coptic Church (the deed of sale was signed on May 1, 2024), but that Protestant services in the Vredevorst Church would, for the time being, continue as usual.

After a commemorative book was published on July 6, 2024, celebrating sixty years of the Vredevorst Church, a church service was held on July 8 that year focusing on the church’s 60th anniversary. Now, the use of the Vredevorst Church by the Protestant Congregation is coming to an end.

On Sunday, May 25 at 9:30 AM, the final service will be held. At the end of the service, the burning Easter candle, the Bible, and the Communion set will be carried out of the church to be brought into the Grote Kerk (Great Church) a week later, on June 1. From then on, services will be held there. Rev. Tjitske de Vries from Overveen will lead that service.
